Theory Component

  • Solkattu and Thalam

Students must be able to recite and identify the Solkattu and rhythmic structure (Thalam) for all the Adavus listed in Grade 2.

  • Mudras (Hand Gestures)

    • Asamyuta Hastas – 28 single-hand gestures

    • Samyuta Hastas – 24 double-hand gestures

Students are expected to learn and demonstrate the gestures as per the Abhinaya Darpana with names, techniques, and meanings.

Grade 2 reinforces technique, rhythm, and expression – essential pillars of a Bharatanatyam dancer’s training. This level encourages clarity, discipline, and a deeper appreciation of the art form’s grammar and aesthetics.
