Karma Kalakendram Announces Karma Fest 2024 at Island Hall, Lisburn

Lisburn, Northern Ireland: Karma Kalakendram has officially announced the date for Karma Fest 2024, which will take place on 30th October at 6 PM in Island Hall, Lisburn. The highly anticipated event marks a return to the iconic venue, where Karma Fest first launched in Northern Ireland back in 2013.
Karma Fest is a celebration of cultural diversity and the classical art forms of India, welcoming all art enthusiasts across Northern Ireland and beyond. This year, the event promises an exceptional display of talent from students of Karma Kalakendram, with a special focus on a significant milestone for some dancers—performing their Arangettam (debut performance).
Several dancers who have trained with Karma for over a decade will take the stage for their first full-scale Arangettam, a proud achievement that highlights their dedication and mastery of classical dance. In addition to these debut performances, other students will have the chance to showcase their talents based on their knowledge level and training progress.
To further enrich the experience, Karma Kalakendram will publish stories about each Arangettam student on its website in the coming weeks, offering deeper insights into their journey in classical dance.
Operating without a physical building, Karma Kalakendram has developed a distinct vision to transform ancient temple arts into modern theatre, making Indian classical dance more accessible and relevant in contemporary settings. Their strategic approach includes providing mindful weekly training and creating awareness about the theoretical aspects of Bharatanatyam—focusing on Bhava (dramatic expressions), Raga (melodic framework), and Tala (rhythm).
The dance tutor team is led by Bijini JP, with Siddhi Bhangera as an allied partner, who contributes to the rich educational environment at Karma.
